Many potential university students look upon scholarships from their reach if the do not thing that they are talented or gifted enough to win one on personal merit. This is a common perception that only the most gifted students are eligible for grants and scholarships to get them over the final phases of their education, which then gives rise to the popular belief that those residing in low income homes cannot afford to further their education to that level, that secondary school is their limit.
