Cardboard balers for recycling will not only save the environment; they will also help to save a company time and money with their waste disposal company.

Cardboard balers for recycling will not only save the environment; they will also help to save a company time and money with their waste disposal company.

Cardboard is the number one packing material used in commercial shipping today and it is estimated at approximately $18 billion in business each year. North America ships the most products in cardboard or corrugated boxes and it’s estimated at 90 percent of all shipments to this region to be in cardboard boxes.

Since there is such a high percentage of cardboard boxes’ being shipped throughout the county, it would not surprise anyone that the most significant amount of waste that ends up in the landfills around the world is produced by OCC or old corrugated cardboard. This is a good reason to invest in a baler for recycling cardboard boxes and inserts.

Many businesses, restaurants and shops that receive goods in cardboard boxes simply throw them away in the dumpster and when there is no more room, which is when they think to flatten them for more space.

Recycled cardboard boxes and inserts could be a source of revenue for many businesses if they shop around for a good waste management company that has a big demand for old corrugated cardboard.

An additional benefit of recycling cardboard boxes is that it frees up space for inventory and other equipment or machinery that may be needed. Cardboard that is flattened and placed in a recycling baler will help to promote a safer work environment because employees are not walking over cardboard boxes on the floor to get to the back door in addition to lessening the risk for a potential fire hazard.

Balers for cardboard need to be operated by employees who are over 18 years old and have gone through proper training on how to safely operate this type of heavy machinery. The reasoning behind the minimum age requirement is because of the maturity level of someone who is 18 years old verses someone who is 16 and might ‘horseplay’ around with the heavy machinery. In addition, many facilities require cardboard bale operators to wear safety goggles and heavy-duty gloves for maximum protection.

A bale for recycling cardboard boxes could be found in grocery stores, large shopping centers, in the basement of a large office building to be shared with many smaller businesses and offices and in hospitals and school district buildings.

There are several different sizes of balers for cardboard recycling, mainly small and some are even portable. There are also medium, large and extra large sizes. Some of the bigger stores like the super center style shopping facilities typically have several balers for their cardboard boxes, signs and inserts.

Many consumers want to go green and would like to know that their supermarket, furniture store or big box store is helping the environment by not contributing to the growing waste in the landfills with cardboard boxes, that they are using cardboard balers for recycling in order to make the planet a better place for their customers, employees and everyone on earth.

In this socially conscious age, many organizations are seeking helpful services to sustain the environment, such as disposal consultation or recycling. Do your part in beautifying the city by hiring professional and reliable assistance with Cardboard recycling.

We all want to make the world a little greener and leave it in good condition for our children. Recycling in the city and some environmentally friendly things are part of good practice and a part of the process. You can do little things to make a big difference in the city you live in starting today.

It not only helps you keep your city green but it also creates employment for a number of people who would not have jobs otherwise in the sanitation department. By creating recycling programs they have the need for people to sort and ship the materials to plants that use the materials to make other products. So know when you drop a plastic bottle into a recycling bin you are helping someone keep a job in this bad economy.

It is becoming more economical and easier to recycle in the environment of a city. There is a conscious effort being made to create ways that people can recycle in an easy fashion. You will be able to look around and see what you can do wherever you live.

Home: Many sanitation offer bins to home owners who wish to recycle. Typically this is bottle, can and newspapers. It can be easy to do this and you put out the materials when you put out your regular trash container. They also have special days in some cities where they pick up yard waste that can help as well. You ask for a special sticker in some cities to place on a container that you purchase yourself.

Apartment: If you live in a green centered apartment building, then they should offer you a place to separate your recyclable materials on your floor or at least an alternate floor. Every apartment should have a basic if not efficient waste management system. If you live in a coop you can start a program yourself with like minded people. Bring it up and have a plan laid out for your next coop meeting and you will be surprised how the recycling idea catches on.

Just because there is not a current recycling program in your building does not mean that you cannot practice the ritual. You can collect materials in containers you purchase yourself and turn them in when the containers full up. There are some cute containers that can be stored on a patio or under the sink in your home.

Public schools are jumping on the bandwagon as well for recycling. More districts in cities are offering programs that encourage students to recycle and some even have recycling or green clubs. City streets are being made avenues for the process as well with containers being made available to passersby in major cities that value the importance of recycling and seeing positive effects of doing so.

It is easy to see the city around you and imagine it a bit greener. Be a forward thinker and get your bottles and cans separated and practice recycling. Join in and encourage others to recycle as well to get yourself a green city you can be proud of.

In this socially conscious age, many organizations are seeking helpful services to sustain the environment, such as disposal consultation or Toronto waste management. Do your part in beautifying the city by hiring professional and reliable assistance with Markham recycle initiatives.

Literature in its various forms can be a wonderful form of entertainment. With the vast amount of books available it is hard to imagine there is a scarcity of books for some people. There are many people that have a favorite book that has inspired or made a positive impression on their outlook in life.

Many of us take reading directions for a prescription, ordering from a menu, e-mail, text messages, road signs, election ballots, and music for granted. What would our lives be like without the ability to read?

Did you know that more than 770 million adults lack minimum literacy skills? This equates to about 1 in 5 adults. 75 million children are not in school and many more attend irregularly or drop out. One major reason why these children are not in school is lack of books. In many instances there may be only one textbook per classroom.

Often the only book that is available is the teachers manual. This scarcity of books in the classroom hinders the education of children and perpetuates a cycle of illiteracy. What can be done to change this? Listed below are three key locations that need books to improve global literacy.

The first location is in the home. Having adequate books in the home can help establish good reading habits for both parent and child. Parents who read to a child stimulate their imagination and encourage their development in numerous ways. Children learn by example and are prone to follow a parents pattern of reading habits.

Schools need adequate books for students. Having an area dedicated solely to books is important. A book display such as a mobile library cart or shelves makes them easily accessible to the students. An appealing way to present books allows students to see or browse through books they can choose. Students can look over the books based on their covers and easily read the titles. This is especially important for younger students who still rely mostly on the pictures to tell them if they are interested in a book. Being able to choose also adds to children’s desire to read.

The third location is in the community. Having an ample supply of books in a community is important to improve peoples lives. Humans must learn to read so that they can read to learn. A library with programs focused on reading is essential for improving global literacy within a local community. An important aspect a mentor can do is to arouse in people the desire to read. People who have access to books are able to learn anytime.

When people have access to an ample supply of books, they are able to learn any time not just when class is in session. We all know how important literacy is in the community. Devoting efforts to improving global literacy can improve an economy with higher wages, improved health and productivity, and reduce crime and poverty.

Insuring that there is an ample supply of books in these three key locations is vital to promoting literacy and improving the lives of people all over the world.

by Marion Stroud

It was a beautiful place. The warm waters of the Indian Ocean lapped the silver sand and well-padded sun-beds invited us to stretch out under the shade of the tamarisk trees. Smiling waiters constantly came by with iced drinks, and no request was too much trouble. ‘It is my job to make your holiday happy’ said the pool attendant as I thanked him for bringing me a towel. It was a little piece of paradise, exclusive and gift-wrapped, protected by security men and high fences.

Early one morning we left the beach and the dining tables with their crisp white cloths, which clustered around the swimming pool, and went out into the African village beyond the gates. Here we found a very different world. Chickens scratched at the side of the road, and a little girl walked to school from her one-roomed home with its corrugated iron roof, picking her way carefully down a deeply rutted unmade-up road. Local people squeezed 15 deep into small vans or ‘matatus’, if they were lucky enough to have a job to travel to, while many others simply sat under the trees, hoping that someone would come along and offer them a days’ casual labour. It was a million miles from the comparative luxury that lay just beyond the hotel gates.

As we returned for our breakfast from the ‘all that you could eat buffet’ I felt as if I was slipping back into a gold fish tank, insulated and sheltered from the real world. ‘Hakuna Matata’ – no worries – for the guests at Turtle Bay, even though poverty, disease and need of every kind waited beyond its gates. ‘Father’ I whispered ‘is this how we are as Christians?’ Staying within our protected environment, hugging your lavish provision to ourselves? Caring little for those who are in such need, and failing to tell the spiritually starving where to find bread?’

Of course it isn’t just in the two-thirds world that we find poverty, sickness and spiritual need. In the pleasant market town where I live in Britain, approximately 40 men and a few women sleep rough at night, whatever the weather. Week after week, in the court where I serve as a magistrate, people of every age stand in the dock, accused of shoplifting or other petty crime, because they have a drug habit that demands constant feeding. Old people spend days without a single visitor and failed asylum seekers, live behind barbed wire fences, waiting to be deported to an uncertain future.

All this need just tears my heart out. But the sheer size of the problem threatens to overwhelm me. Like Andrew, when faced with 5,000 hungry men and the scanty supply of 5 loaves and two fishes with which to feed them I’m tempted to shrug helplessly and say ‘Jesus, what is the little that I can offer, among so many? Where do I start Lord? I’m afraid of getting out of my depth. And on the bad days, I want to withdraw into the sanitised safety of my Christian world, and let others get their hands dirty.

Then I remember the story about the little boy who was throwing stranded star-fish back into the sea. His big brother pointed out that the beach was covered with star-fish. What difference could throwing a few back into the water make in the grand scheme of things? The little boy smiled as he hurled yet another of the creatures back into the waves. ‘I’m making a difference to that one.’ he retorted cheerfully.

Jesus cares about the ones and twos. And a cup of cold water offered in his name is noticed and brings him joy. So today I’ll remind myself although as one person I can’t change the world, I can reach out my hand and change the world, just a little, for one person. And inasmuch as I do it for the least, the lost and the little people, I do it for Him.
